With its built-in expression pedal, 94 effects, 22 amp and cabinet models, looper and factory-loaded rhythm patterns, Zoom's G3X enables you not only to create original sounds but also to perform as a one-person band. Its intuitive design allows for easy navigation when creating, saving, and rearranging effects, without having to go digging through menus. Three integrated LCD screens each have a dedicated onboard footswitch and three control knobs for programming.
Effects include delays, compressors, noise gates, and wah, as well as boosters, overdrives, fuzzes, phasers and flangers, plus chorus, pitch shift, tremolo, vibrato, and even ring modulation. To satisfy all of your audio taste buds, the G3X has simulations of both classic and contemporary pedals, such as the Dynacomp, Moog MF-101, Pro Co Rat, and the CE-1, as well as multiple reverbs, including rooms, halls, arenas, and plates. It also comes with dual effects such as chorus/delay, compressor/overdrive, and delay/reverb to jump-start your imagination for your own creations. Original effects include Zoom's Noise Reduction (ZNR) algorithm for silence between pauses when you're playing romantic ballads, and ExtremeDS, for out-distorting the metal band sharing your bill. For maximum tweakage, parameters such as delay time and modulation speed can be manipulated to the nth degree with the assignable onboard expression pedal.
Up to six effects can be used simultaneously, arranged in any order you like; and, for the forward-thinking musician, signal flow can be reversed. One hundred patch memories, all pre-loaded with factory settings, are provided for storing your custom-edited effects and presets, all accessible via the foot switch. With 40 seconds of loop time and 41 rhythm patterns to play along with, you can build your own mini-orchestra without having to rely on annoying band-mates.
The G3X's 22 amp models include emulations of both vintage and modern tube and solid-state amps from manufacturers like Fender, Marshall, Vox, Hiwatt, and Orange. Additionally, you can pair any amp model to any cabinet model, making your own mutated hybrids. To further diversify the audio gene pool, you can match the output of a given amp/cabinet model to your outboard gear. Got a plethora of analog equipment that you can't divorce? You can marry the G3X to your vintage stockpile of amps or line-level devices (pre- or post-effect) via dual 1/4" (mono and TRS) and balanced XLR output jacks. Also, plug in your headphones to the 1/4" TRS jack for a quiet practice session that won't irritate your neighbors.
Create your next epic indie film score by using the G3X as an audio interface to record into the included Steinberg Sequel LE recording software. It's Mac- and Windows-compatible and captures your sound as 16-bit / 44kHz audio. The G3X runs on four AA batteries, either alkaline or rechargeable NiMH, or the supplied AC adapter. Battery life is up to six hours when using alkaline batteries, and the unit automatically powers down if left unused for extended periods.
